Battery Conference – Simulating the Temperature Spread within a Li-Ion Battery Module

Alexander Reiter from MAN Energy Solutions will give a lecture at Advanced Battery Power Conference (28th -30th March 2022) about a  novel performant and non-destructive modelling process for simulation of temperature distributions within Li-Ion battery modules with comparably low computational effort compared to currently applied approaches.

This novel approach for predictive maintenance and model-based optimization was developed within the #NAUTILUS_2020 project that investigates novel propulsion system for modern sustainable shipping. This propulsion system is based on hybrid battery and fuel cell energy systems for next-generation cruise ships in order to replace marine engines fuelled by heavy fuel oil.

The NAUTILUS project will use a digital twin for the simulation of the temperature spread within a lithium-ion battery system that mirrors electro - thermal behaviour of novel propulsion system.
