Where the SOFCs are born ?

The coordinator of the NAUTILUS project, Dr Asif Ansar (DLR), together with Sabine Riek (DLR) and Matthias Metten (DLR) visited the high-tech production line of SolydEra in Pergine Valsugana, Italy. The group was welcomed by Stefano Modena (SolydEra) and Massimo Bertoldi (SolydEra) behind the modern glass building housing the SOFC fuel cell production line.

SolydEra (formerly SOLIDPower) is one of the most-recognised European companies in developing and producing solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), that holds 10 patents for technologies devised in its three global research & innovation facilities. SolydEra offers SOFC technology that can be used in stationary power generation, transportation, and mobile power systems.

As a member of the project consortium, SolydEra delivers the complete technical solution of the fuel cell system for the novel hybrid Genset. This genset is being developed for large passenger ships to enable their transition towards zero emissions.

If you want to see what is hidden in the glossy cube you can watch the SOFC inclination experiment that was realised within the NAUTILUS project recently.
