Brief description of the Partner
Chantiers de l’Atlantique (CdA) is a shipyard employing 3200 persons with a long history of designing and delivering breakthrough innovative ships (e.g. 1st dual-fuel engine LNG carrier, largest world-wide cruise ship with Symphony of the Seas…). The company has a strong position in terms of developing state-of-the-art concepts, technology, processes and products for customers around the world.
Located in Saint-Nazaire, CdA is the biggest single shipyard in Europe with a total ship building capacity of 420,000 GRT per year. Thanks to its facilities (108 hectares yard with a huge 1 200 m long and 65 m wide drydock served by a massive 1400 tons gantry crane) and its continuous effort and investment in Research and Development programs, it is one of the world leaders in cruise ship building.
Role in the Project
In NAUTILUS, CdA, due to its strong experience overall in cruise ship specifications, design and integration of complex equipment, will contribute mainly to WPs 2, 4 and 7. In these WPs, CdA with their unique insight to cruise ship market, will participate in systemic analysis for market research, technical restrictions and requirements and emission regulations for fuel cells, engines, batteries and hybridization. In order to evaluate the SOFC-battery genset for alternative fuels flexibility, CdA will participate in a dialogue with relevant stakeholders, such ase ports, cruise ship providers, customers, due to cruise ship builder position of CdA in the market.
